Bahama shutters, sometimes called Bermuda shutters, are commonly used to add privacy and protection from the elements. It’s no wonder, then, that people are often asking “can you see through Bahama shutters?”.  Here, I’ll show you what Bahama shutters look like from the inside, so you can see for yourself.

We have three different options of Bahama shutters. Our Endurance Bahama Shutter offers the maximum visibility. Our Key West Bahama Shutter styles has two louver options. Both the Key West Oval Louver and our Key West Z Louver offer the maximum privacy and therefore you are less likely to see through the Bahama shutters.

Key West Bahama Shutters – Maximum Privacy

Here’s what Key West Oval Louver Bahama shutters look like from the inside.

Here’s what a Key West Ultralight Z Louver Bahama shutter looks like from the inside.

As you can see, our Key West style Bahama shutters offer the most privacy and protection from sun and rain with their tight louver spacing. You can see through them, but the visibility is limited.

Endurance Bahama Shutters – Maximum Visibility

Below is what our Endurance Bahama shutters look like from the inside. With these shutters, our standard louver spacing makes it easy to see through the Bahama shutters. Since we cut the louver slots ourselves, we do have the availability to create some custom spacing options where the louvers are tilted slightly more or pulled closer together, creating a more private offering.

Angle of Bahama Shutters

In addition to the louver spacing, you can adjust the angle of the shutter. This gives you a little more control over how much you can see. When the shutter sticks out further, the spacing between the louvers becomes more pronounced and you will get more visibility. Because people are often thinking about what it looks like from the inside, they sometimes forget to think about where the shutter is on the outside. With this in mind, we recommend looking at the shutter from both sides. It would be a shame if you put your shutter at the perfect angle only to realize you’ll hit your head on the edge of the shutter if you take your favorite path around your house!

What’s the verdict?

Can you see through Bahama shutters? Yes. How much visibility you have is determined by the style of shutter and the angle it comes out from the house. The farther out it goes on the bottom, the more visibility it will provide.
